Play To Devices

Something that we don't have at this time is a quality list of devices that work well with Play To, or rather we didn't.  What I'm planning here is a list of all the devices we know about that should work and we'll be trying them out and giving them our own experience index.

Feel free to edit this Wiki entry as much as you like, that’s why it's here.

Key

  • DMS = Digital Media Server, device hosts media files
  • DMP = Digital Media Player, device can select media file from a DMS to play back
  • DMR = Digital Media Renderer, device can recieve a media file Played To it.
  • DMC = Digital Media Controller, device can control DMRs and DMPs

Here is a much better list of DMRs also on the Twonky site. Enjoy!

Great list!

The table would be easier to read if it had borders though. I'm running IE8 and it's hard to tell the columns apart. Perhaps it's a stylesheet issue on the site?

And what about Samsung series 7 OLED DLNA TV´s? Does anyone tested it?

By: scottman Posted on 03-19-2009 3:53 AM

There are many new DLNA DMR devices in the pipeline.  The DLNA recently started certifying these devices which will help drive better quality implementations that will work well with Win7.

Under the covers Win7 is transcoding the content as necessary so formats that normally are not supported on the devices will play (e.g. you can stream DivX to a device that only support MPEG2 or WMA to a device that only supports MP3).

A few other devices that work with PlayTo:

1. Linksys Wireless-N Home Audio Player

2. Sony Bravia TVs (some models - primarily in Japan)

3. Denon AV Receivers

4. DLink DSM-520, DSM-750, DSM-510
