I now have a digi STB, connected to a Hauppauge 500mce card (via composite TV out and in), utilising the usual HP/Microsoft IR receiver, blaster and MCE remote, and all on Vista Premium.
The TV is on DVI from the PC. Picture is good and sound is fine, EPG ok etc.

Unfortunately my STB isn't listed (a Dream Multi-Media DM 500-c) and therefore the blaster cant change the channels on the STB. The MCE remote receiver cant even learn my STB remotes IR codes (via the setup option In MCE TV setup).

Any tips on how to either get my STB IR recognised, or even how to edit the IR settings on MCE?

Are there other solutions to getting the "change channel signal" to the STB, better MCE IR equipment for example?

I came across this unit, which would work, but the solution would be clunky and expensive (€187)

Hi Guys

ian - yes media centre can learn - as long as the mce receiver is receiving the signal

Does the mce receiver got a constant red light, Ive had serious problems getting my sky receiver recognised, whats strange is its worked fine in the past, then i noticed the receiver had a near constant red light (it was being bombarded by another ir source)

the cause of this was finally sorted after puttng every electronic device under the cushions or taking the batteries out..... It was the TV - strangley enough my Samsung LCD seems to emit high amounts of IR, turn the TV off, retry the remote detection and it worked straight away and the red light stopped lighting constantly.

by the way tv back on and the mce remote works fine
